1 16-ounce can Bush’s Best Original Baked Beans
4 strips bacon
½ cup chopped yellow onion
½ cup chopped red bell pepper
1/3 cup yellow mustard
1/3 cup Salt Lick Original barbecue sauce
Instructions: Drain beans and rinse under cold water in a colander. Set aside.
Place bacon in a skillet and cook over a burner on medium heat until extra crispy, about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through. Reserve the bacon grease (you should have about 1/8 cup). Allow bacon to cool on paper towels and then crumble.
Pour bacon grease into a medium-size saucepan over a grill or burner set to medium heat. Add the onion and red bell pepper and cook until they begin to soften and the onion turns translucent. Add crumbled bacon, beans, mustard and barbecue sauce. Simmer and stir for 8-10 minutes.
